Qty of Heat Source x Heat Value x Time of Transfer x Transferability Value
* Here the Transferability Value is the Transfer Coefficient of Heat in the given Transfer Medium
If Qty of Heat Source is 1 kg Heat Value = 5000 Kcal / Kg
Time of Transfer = 1 minute Transferability Value = 85 %
Here we have considered Transferability Value as Thermal Efficiency of the boiler as to Heat Transferred to enthalpy of steam

- Then work done as per previous slide is equal to
- 1 x 5000 x 1 x 0.85 = 4250
- The heat balance is thus
- Total input 5000 x 1 = 4250 x 1 ( work done ) + 750 x 1 ( Losses )
- The factor of 1 represents the heat availability factor with known heat transferability factor
